Cognition adds Code Scans feature to Devin, using agentic MapReduce for repo‑wide audits

Cognition announced that its Devin AI assistant now includes a Code Scans feature that can audit an entire repository and automatically open pull requests.

In a post on X dated Sept. 16, 2026, the company said the addition addresses engineering tasks that require reasoning across the codebase, such as identifying code safe to delete, locating performance‑draining queries, and spotting security vulnerabilities.

The feature, Cognition said, is powered by an “Agentic MapReduce” engine that lets Devin investigate, report findings, and open PRs without manual intervention.
