Devin Desktop version 3.9.1018 removes the legacy Cascade agent and makes Devin Local the only available agent. The update also adds a built‑in “Continue in Devin Local” prompt to migrate existing conversations.
Cognition’s documentation for the 3.9.1018 release states that “Cascade has been removed. Devin Local is now the only agent available in Devin Desktop. Use the Continue in Devin Local prompt to migrate existing conversations to the new agent.” The agent location picker now lists Local, Worktree and Cloud as top‑level options, and the sidebar defaults to sessions updated in the last 30 days.
The release notes also describe UI changes, including per‑row checkboxes for batch archive/unarchive in the inbox list view, updated navigation arrows, and trigger menus that no longer open on whitespace. Additional enhancements cover find‑in‑page shortcuts, new actions on PR cards, clipboard image pasting on the New Session page, and fixes for dev‑container attachment, Remote‑WSL activation, and proxy‑blocked MCP registry fetches.
One user, @abugiza_, posted on X on September 6, 2026 that the Cascade removal is present in the pre‑release of the “Windsurf Next” build and that the migration path to Devin Local is built in.
